but away from here
away from this desk
to the bed over there

waste of breath
waste of rhyme
waste of sleep
waste of time

various papers clutter the desk
a life struggling with the like
behind on the to do's
ahead on the pike

nothing coming to mind
nothing tonight
nothing redeeming
nothing to write

coming to the end
the end of myself
it's long past time
to put the rhymes on a shelf
