Last night was Bible Study with the group of guys that I'm discipling this summer.

Eight of the Lake Brantley High School guys showed up and Bible Study began. I apologized that I was poorly prepared and that I had changed what I was going to speak on an hour and a half before Bible Study started. I told them that what I was going to speak on, they had already heard and it wouldn't help much if they heard it again. I told them that there problem wasn't knowing it, but doing it.

It was a really good Bible Study, and God yet again proved himself to be great. We talked about how there is a difference of opinion between us and God. Human nature is to be as comfortable as possible. God on the other hand wants us to be in tough and uncomfortable situations, because that is the only way we grow and get stronger as believers. I used a few analogies to explain this such as a mother eagle will kick its young out of the nest to teach them to fly, and will swoop and catch them if they fail to take flight. We also discussed Luke 5, and how the disciples caught nothing because they were staying in the shallow water, but Jesus called them to go into deep water and that is where they caught so many fish their nets were breaking. God calls us out to the deep waters, where the real action is. If we stay near the shore, we won't catch a dang thing. The guys seemed to be really encouraged. As I stayed silent when we were closing in prayer, I got to hear the hearts of a few of the guys.

The awesome blessing of discipleship. I stayed around for a little, and the guy that I'm closest to in the group came up to me and asked me if I was hungry. I said yes...

so we left.
